Self-Defense Classes
I have been certified by Maria Doest to teach her self-defense techniques for women.

Biography of Maria Doest
Sensei DoestMaria Doest is a 5th degree black belt in Okinawan Karate. Since 1978 she has dedicated herself to teaching women's self-defense and is a certified child abuse prevention specialist. Maria's extensive experience in the martial arts has allowed her to develop a unique self-defense system for women which is based on using women's strengths against mens' weaknesses. Her program emphasizes self-esteem, self-respect and physical self-determination.

Maria was a featured panelist at the Pacific Association of Women Martial Artists Self-defense Symposium in Washington, and the National Women's Martial Arts Federation Self-defense Symposium in Long Island, NY.

Maria is also past-president of the Stuntwoman's Association. Her expertise in adapting techiques for women has brought her talent to such films as "Feds" in which she trained Rebecca DeMornay and Mary Gross in Special Police Tactics for Women. Cybill Sheperd trained intensively with Maria for her made-for-TV movie "Stormy Weathers." It is Maria's goal to change the image of women on TV and film from helpless victims to capable, strong survivors.
