Seki-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu
One of the first times I ever heard of jiu-jitsu was when I was a white belt and heard one of the black belts at our school talking about the classes the higher ranks took with Sensei Linda Gross. And I still remember her exact words: "Jiu-jitsu is not for wimps."

She was right.

I studied Seki-Ryu jiu-jitsu as a part of my karate training since 1999 and as a separate art from January - July 2001. I received my green belt in jiu-jitsu in June 2001, about four weeks before I tested for my shodan in karate.

Hanshi Linda Gross (8th degree black belt) teaches the jiu-jitsu class at KarateCenter on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. Hanshi Gross has been training in Seki-Ryu jiu-jitsu for over 40 years.

Jiu-jitsu is an art of self-defense. It teaches you how to not only defend yourself during an attack, but also how to disable your attacker to the point where you don't have to worry about him getting up right away ... if ever.
