Canine distemper
Canine Distemper Cure

Here's a brief summary of the information in this story:

1) Dr. Alson Sears of Lancaster CA has developed a cure for canine distemper, but it is only effective if the treatment is administered in the early stages of the disease. If your dog starts to seizure, it's too late.

2) He discovered this cure in the early 70s by accident, trying out an experimental procedure. But, he did something wrong and did not follow the steps as he should. However, suddenly dogs were getting better. He doesn't know how or why it works, and to find out would cost money that he doesn't have.

3) In battling the disease, you also must be very careful about preventing secondary infections. The dog's immune system is weakened, and so other diseases may strike.

4) Even if the treatment is successful, the disease has probably done damage to the lungs, stomach, eyes, pads of the feet, etc. Also, there is a strong possibility that later in life, a canine distemper survivor will get what is called, "old dog encephalitis," essentially - seizures. This will probaby shorten the dog's life expectancy.

5) However, Galen lived for nine years without a sign of any seizures. He died of liver disease in October 2006.

6) The canine distemper virus is airborne and highly unstable outside the dog's body.  It is most infectious in enclosed places like shelters.
