my and I married on July 13, 1996 at Wagner Vineyards along the eastern shores of Seneca Lake in Upstate New York. Friends and family from California, New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia met for the first time that week. It was a great week.

As for Amy and I, we met in the newsroom of the Star-Gazette in Elmira, N.Y. I think my first thought of her was something like, "Boy, she's pissed." But we also had a lot in common, like a love for Ireland. We'd both been there before we met, so we had a lot to talk about. I think our first real conversation was a debate about Northern Ireland.

I also discovered she had many talents, not the least of which is an impressive ability to pack a large volume of personal items into a small space. She was the only one who could have packed my entire life into the back of my Honda Civic so I could move to California.

She rode cross-country with me the summer of 1992. The Honda broke down in the middle of Nebraska and it was Amy's ingenuity that got us out of there. In Los Angeles, I said good-bye and put her on a plane back to New York, but it wasn't too long before I asked her to move out here.
So, I flew back East, and in the middle of winter we packed her life - except for her very large family - into her Toyota Corolla and drove cross country again, this time without incident.

That car stayed with us for another six years until it was hit by a drunk driver. Take a look. But we still enjoy travelling together.

In addition to her work at Women In Technology International, Amy also designed the web page for her karate school, KarateWomen. She earned her blue belt just before giving birth to Jack in July 1999. She earned her brown belt in May 2000 and her BLACK BELT in July 2001. I'm very proud! Now I call her Sensei Mommy! Bond...
